Are you just starting your research and need help managing your data, or do you want to publish a data paper, or use your research unit’s electronic lab notebook? 

Our training courses are designed to answer your questions!

Offered in collaboration with the Doctoral College and the Open Science team at the University of Montpellier, these events are open to all doctoral students enrolled in Montpellier’s doctoral schools:

• Research Data and PGD: Adopting Best Practices for Data Management
• Get the Most Out of Your Data with the Data Paper
• Paper and Electronic Lab Notebooks: A Key Tool for FAIR, Reliable, and Secure Research (in French and English)
• Self-directed Learning, Open Science, Open Access, Research Data, and Digital Identity

For more information on training courses, visit the Moodle site Succeed in Your Doctoral Program with SCD-UM, in collaboration with ECoDoR instructors: throughout your doctoral program, this platform will help you identify training courses that meet your needs at every stage of your dissertation; find session dates—whether in-person, online, or self-paced; and register for them. You do not need to be enrolled at UM to access it; this platform is open to all doctoral students.

The first session of theOpen Science Self-Study Program began on September 21 and ends on December 11. It consists of several courses that can be taken independently and allows you to earn up to 14 hours of training credit if you complete the entire program. 

Wikimedia training sessions will also be offered in 2027 as part of the UM’s Wikimedia residency (learn more): you’ll be able to learn how to contribute to Wikipedia based on your work and publications, how to use Wikidata to showcase your research, or how to use the OpenRefine tool to clean, convert, or format your data. More information coming soon in a future news update!
